Ever since the latest trailer’s premiere at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, fans have yet to see any more footage from Warner Bros. and DC’s superhero tentpole, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Over the past few months the studio has been steadily releasing new images and magazine covers for the film here and there, but considering the current spoiler culture that we’re living in nowadays, the spoilers and footage for the film has been surprisingly low up until this point. Now fingers crossed that it stays that way too.
However, with the film set to hit theatres in just a few short months, it looks like DC is taking a page out of Marvel’s handbook, and will be premiering new footage from the film in association with another, not as popular DC property.
It has been revealed that the new footage from the film will be airing live during next Monday’s episode of Gotham, with DC likely hoping to boost the show’s ratings during its Fall finale. Check out the official announcement promo below, which features some of the Gotham stars weighing in on who they’d choose between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight:
There’s no specifics about how much footage will be shown from the film, if it will be a 30-second TV spot, new trailer, or small scene from the film, but it is possible that this could be how DC is planning on launching the latest trailer, contrary to the popular belief that it would premiere before screenings of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Or it could be both, who knows?
This season has marked a turning point for Gotham, and not necessarily for the best either. While last season had its rough patches along the way, the latest, villains-centric, sophomore run of the show has taken its previously cheesy material, and gone full force into some seriously silly places. Much like how Marvel likes to premiere their trailers during episodes of Agent Carter or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. though, it looks like DC might just be trying to hit two birds with one stone here.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere on March 25th, 2016, and Gotham airs every Monday night on FOX.
