Black Panther Costume Revealed On Set of ‘Captain America: Civil War’

By August 12, 2015

Out of all of the announced Marvel films set to be released in the next few years, one of the most interesting installments is, easily, the standalone Black Panther film. The movie will be following one of the more interesting characters in the entire Marvel Universe, and the world and culture he comes from should make for a very different and intriguing addition to the MCU.

However, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) has to first make his debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, alongside almost all of the main heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fan theories and rumors have debated on which side the character will end up taking in the war between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), but out of all of the set photos and images released from the film so far — Black Panther has been nonexistent.

That is, until now.

New set photos from Civil War have revealed what looks to be the official Black Panther costume with stunt doubles for both Chadwick Boseman and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier standing in place for the actors. Check out the images below:

In comparison to the original concept art that was released during Marvel’s press conference last year (see top image), it looks like the costume is pretty true to what the studio had intended. The full mask, ears, and coloring of the costume is exceptional, with the silver and white lines helping to make it pop even more. It’s a pretty solid adaptation from the comics versions as well, while also making it more sleek and contemporary for the films, which is something Marvel has successfully done with their costumes, time and time again.

They’re not great images of the suit or anything, but it’s exciting to at least see what the costume will look like in the film. The fact that audiences will get to see Bucky and T’Challa interacting is interesting as well and may help to hint at what side the character chooses in the movie.

Captain America: Civil War is set to hit theaters on May 6th, 2016 & Black Panther is set for a release of July 6th, 2018!
