Charlize Theron in Talks to Join ‘Fast 8’ as Villain

By February 9, 2016

News is coming fast and furious today… Hey. Pun.

No sooner did I write up about Deadpool sequel just greenlit, I thought for sure that would be the big news today. Wrong. Add some Fast 8 to the mix… Thanks to a report from Variety, Charlize Theron loves cars so much she now wants to drive them somewhere less apocalyptic. She is now in talks to join the 8th movie in the Fast and Furious franchise as a villain.

Charlize Theron is in early conversations to join the cast of Universal’s next “Fast and Furious” movie, “Fast 8,” as a new villain. While it’s unclear where negotiations stand currently, sources close to the situation tell Variety that the studio is eager to add Theron to the ensemble cast. Universal had no comment.

Let me break it down – they want her, but it’s too close to call a done deal. But I’ve heard rumblings for many weeks and this could all fall apart. But as the trades report, there are talks and because of it, they were sure enough to write up a report. So for fans of Charlize and her Mad Max Fury Road part, signs look good that she be taking on another action movie, but with the awesome caveat that she’ll play a villain. Which makes this news all the more interesting.

The report goes on to cite Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham all coming back with Straight Outta Compton’s F. Gary Gray directing.

Production is gearing up, set to begin this spring dated for April 17, 2017.

We will keep you posted on this news just as soon as we get some more updates. Meantime, drop in some of your comments below – is this a good move by the producers? Are you wanting more Charlize in all your movies? Sound off!
