What’s Freddie Prinze Jr. been up to lately? Apparently he’s joined the voice cast of “Star Wars Rebels,” the new animated series coming to Disney XD, and while he was at Comic-Con to talk a bit about the show, he lobbed a vocal grenade in the direction of one of his former co-workers. Prinze told ABC News that working on the Fox series “24” was such a bad experience, that he nearly gave up acting altogether.
I did 24, and it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. And that’s not me talking trash. I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that. And I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped. I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE for Christ’s sake and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer. But, at least he was cool and tall. I didn’t have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which [“24”] made me do. Just put the guy on an apple box or don’t hire me next time. You know I’m 6 feet and he’s 5’4.
Yikes. Isn’t it a little hypocritical to think someone is “the most unprofessional dude in the world” and then blab to a news outlet – unprompted, mind you – about it? Doesn’t that sort of making Freddie Prinze Jr. unprofessional? The irony of it all!
Well it appears that Sutherland is taking the high road in this little beef-fest, and instead of firing off a quip about Prinze Jr.’s career choices, on-set behavior, or height, his representatives issued the following response:
Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie‘s grievances. Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.
That is classy as hell. Even if it’s true that Sutherland is a nightmare to work with, issuing a statement like this makes Prinze look like the unprofessional one in the scenario. I’m not taking sides because I’ve never met either one of these guys in person and they both could be great dudes or total douchebags in real life, but one of these guys will probably be affected by some of these public statements and one of them won’t. Read that as you will.
