Comic-Con: Bruce Campbell Will Star in ‘Evil Dead’ TV Series

By July 27, 2014

In Friday’s Comic-Con presentation from Screen Gems, Sam Raimi offhandedly mentioned that he, his brother Ivan, and Bruce Campbell were hard at work on a TV adaptation of his classic 1981 film The Evil Dead. That was all the news we knew at the time, but now Campbell himself has chimed in to confirm that he’s intending to star in the series when they get it up and running:

This is great news for fans of this series, who practically worship Campbell like a deity. There’s been a bit of confusion about the future of the Evil Dead franchise on film, with director Fede Alvarez and writer Rodo Sayagues bouncing back and forth about whether or not they were involved with a sequel to their 2013 remake, and Campbell himself said to headline an Army of Darkness 2 directed by Raimi. It’s unclear whether this new announcement about an Evil Dead TV show has replaced those plans or will complement them, so we’ll have to wait for more information before that picture starts to become clear. But for now, fans can rejoice at the news that Ash will return, and that they’ll be able to see him on a regular basis from the comforts of their own homes. Ash is coming back!
