‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Image Puts Matt Murdock’s Costume Front & Center

By August 20, 2015

It’s safe to say at this point that Marvel and Netflix blew away all expectations with the first season of Daredevil. Whether it be the extraordinary acting, writing, or stunt choreography – it just seemed like everything worked perfectly for the series during its freshman season. Now, as production on the sophomore season of the series continues, it looks like the writers are planning on making the scope of the series much larger this time around, including introducing new comic book characters like The Punisher and Elektra in addition to continuing on with the characters from the first season.

However, aside from a few casting announcements and set photos, not much is known about Daredevil season 2 yet. It looks and sounds like Matt Murdock and co. are in for more than a few surprises in the follow-up season though, and one of the biggest questions fans have about the new season – is how will Matt’s costume continue to evolve moving forward? Will we ever get to the classic red suit?

Fans of the series will know that for most of the first season, Matt sported a very bare bones, black pants, shirt, and mask outfit until finally putting on a red, armored suit in the final episode. It was close to the classic red suit from the comics, but there were still a few details missing. Today, Marvel released the first official photo promoting the second season of the series though (via Twitter), and it looks like Matt’s costume will continue to be addressed moving forward. Check out the image below:

As you can see, the image features Matt’s Daredevil costume in a box, alongside his billy club. While not much is visible of the costume, considering it’s folded up and the shadows are pretty evident throughout, it’s clear that at least some changes have already been made. The red on the suit looks much more vibrant this time around, and the contrast between the two colors (black & red) seems even more defined than the last suit we saw in action.

Obviously, we won’t see Matt (Charlie Cox) with the actual costume on until we’re allowed to most likely, but it’s clear that Marvel and Netflix want fans to know that the suit will continue to grow and change over the new season, and probably throughout the entirety of the show. How long it takes to reach the DD on the chest and the full red costume, though, remains a mystery.

Daredevil Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2016.
