Disney’s Announces New ‘Tron’ Video Game for PS4 & Xbox One

By January 28, 2016

Tron is BACK with Tron RUN/r!!! No, no, not another retread sequel like the 2010 film but a runner game based upon the world of Tron that was brought to us originally in 1982. This runner, with some light-cycle action, is available for early access on steam and will be available on PS4 and XBOX ONE February 16th.

According to the official synopsis from Disney Games, this game offers some very interesting challenges:

Return to the world of TRON with TRON RUN/r, a new lightning-fast, action-adventure runner with a twist! Blaze through dynamic circuits, face off against adversaries, and hone your DISC and CYCLE skills on 32 levels. Then, challenge friends to the grueling STREAM program that will test you with endless combinations of modes and levels! How long will you survive?

I’m impressed with the art design of this game. The colors make everything pop off the screen. Will it be any good? Possibly. Is it needed? No. Tron had its chance to relaunch as a credible IP with the 2010 sequel and Disney wiffed that opportunity. But with that being said, this game looks FUN! Running around on Light Cycles is something I’m sure many Geeks are looking forward to.

tron-run-r-screenshot-1_90bca952Nostalgia aside, with all the running games out there, the field is obviously crowded. If Tron can market correctly and can reconnect with its loyal fans, this game could be a runaway hit. Look at the photos and watch the trailer to make the judgement yourself…

So for everyone out there in the Nation – what do you think about Tron Run/r? Will you spend your hard earned money on nostalgia? Or will you be waiting for a more popular, and obviously more recent IP?
