‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ Official Logo Revealed

By November 3, 2015

It looks like things have finally begun to progress past casting updates and production details for 2016’s highly-anticipated Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Based on a script by Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling herself, the movie will be the first in a trilogy following the story of legendary magizoologist, Newt Scamander, as he discovers and documents all kinds of interesting and new magical creatures in the Wizarding World. Directed by a returning David Yates too, who helmed the final four films in the Harry Potter franchise as well, the movie will be set about 70 years before the events of the previous eight films, and will take place in New York City.

That’s about all we know about the film’s plot at this point, but with production getting further and further into its schedule, we can likely expect some new images or plot details from the movie over the next several months.

With the movie’s official theatrical release date just a little over a year away too, Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the movie’s logo, and spoiler alert, the font used is fairly fantastical.

Check out the official image below:

fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-largeAll joking aside, it is interesting to note that instead of including the Harry Potter brand name in the image itself, the logo is preceded by “From J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World“, which not only references the already existing theme park in Florida, but also means that Warner Bros. might be looking to tell more side stories in Rowling’s world that don’t involve a boy with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, or his two best friends. Although, I don’t think that necessarily comes as much of a shock considering how successful the Harry Potter property has been for the studio, and the fact that they already managed Rowling to agree to an entirely new trilogy of films set in the same world.

Following the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 back in 2011 too, it seemed like Harry Potter fans might not see anything new from that magical world. However, with these three new films as well as next year’s official Harry Potter continuation in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts 1 & 2 – it seems like J.K. Rowling might have more new content planned for Harry Potter fans over the coming years, and it doesn’t look like we’re the only ones who have missed it.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theatres on November 18th, 2016.
