First ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Teaser Poster Revealed

By August 17, 2016

Spider-Man: Homecoming continues its production in Atlanta right now, and after the character’s introduction in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year (to rapturous applause from fans), and a stellar John Hughes-y trailer from SDCC this year, I think it’d be safe to say that this is one of the most anticipated movies that either Marvel or Sony have in development right now.

The film seems to be embracing the true, fun and original elements of the Spider-Man character in ways that I don’t think many fans ever thought they’d really get to see onscreen, and you don’t have to look much further than the movie’s lineup of villains – which includes The Vulture, The Tinkerer, and Shocker so far – in addition to the character’s costume for proof of that either.

Now, what looks like the very first official poster for the movie has been revealed online, thanks to a photo from Instagram user frightrags, who posted it from MAGIC at the Las Vegas Convention Center, a fashion trade show ending today, which was later deleted by the user… but not before the internet got a hold of it. Check it out below:

Like many of the moments with Spider-Man in Civil War, this looks like something ripped directly from the comic books, and the fun, lovable, and youthful nature of it is unlike any of the other superhero movies that I think we’re seeing released nowadays, and truly helps to make this (what will hopefully be a long-lasting and healthy franchise for both studios) stand out as the Spider-Man live-action adaptation that fans have been waiting their entire lives to see.

As for the suit itself, we know that there are going to be some possible upgrades and additions to Peter’s suit capabilities in Homecoming, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark already confirmed to have a role in the movie, and director Jon Watts even teasing some other features that Peter himself may not be aware of yet, lying inside of the Stark technology that makes up the costume. Either way, we’re going to be seeing a Spider-Man and superhero movie from the ground level here and nothing quite says it more than this kind of throwback, old school Spider-Man image filling up the film’s first teaser poster.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit theatres on July 7th, 2017.
