Fox Reveals Glimpse of New ‘X-Files’ Footage

This coming January will see the highly anticipated return of “The X-Files” to television, as Fox will debut a brand new, six-episode event series from Chris Carter that returns David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to their iconic roles as FBI Agents Mulder and Scully, respectively. Now, in order to amp up for the January premiere, Fox is going to be doing a massive, 201-day marathon of the entire series leading up to the new series premiere.

According to the newly released trailer, Fox will air an episode of the original series every day, in order, for the next 201 days as the series counts down to January 24th, when the first episode of the new event will air on the network. Perhaps most thrilling is that the promo for the upcoming series revealed the first in-motion footage of the 2016 show, which plays with one of the most iconic phrases from the show. The promo also featured a written synopsis of the new series, which reads,

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES will be a thrilling, six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
