‘Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams Reveals Another Returning Character This Season

By May 6, 2016

Warning: This post will contain Game of Thrones spoilers…

Last week’s episode of Game of Thrones featured the highly-anticipated return of Jon Snow from the dead, but it looks and sounds like the sixth season, which is charging full force into unknown territory past the books, is going to feature the return of more than just Jon Snow to the story.

With Ian McShane’s unknown pirate character already confirmed to be bringing back a character “everyone thinks is dead” as well, Arya Stark herself has just confirmed the return of yet another unexpected, and probably forgotten, character into the fray this season.

During an interview with BBC Radio One (via Mashable), Williams was asked by a young caller if the new season might bring back one of her character’s other Stark siblings – Rickon:

“Ye-es. Yes. Maybe. Yes, we will indeed… Oh no, I’m literally going to get off the air and someone’s going to email me!”

Now, when you think of long-lost characters in Game of Thrones, Rickon is probably the last one you’d think of, since he never seemed to matter all that much in the story, and was always pushed to the sideline by Bran’s more interesting story.

The last we saw of the character was in the third season though, as he split off from Bran with his Direwolf Shaggydog and his Wildling guardian, Osha, as Bran ventured further North beyond the Wall to meet and learn from the Three-Eyed Raven. However, no one with a Stark name should be written off in this series probably ever, and the possibilities that arise from his return are endless. Whether it be from one of Bran’s visions, or crossing paths with one of the other characters. With like much of this season, it’s kind of impossible to know.

Game of Thrones airs every Sunday night on HBO.
