‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Trailer Chooses Violence

By March 8, 2016

Warning: There be spoilers here.

After promos, posters, and teasers from its cast and crew, the first real trailer for Game of Thrones season 6 has been revealed, and it is glorious.

The musical choice is strange, but then again, so was David Bowie for the season five trailer last year, and while it sort of disoriented me at first, the longer the trailer goes on, the better it seems to fit with the footage being shown. And there is a lot shown, in brief glimpses here.

Of course, the trailer continues to drive home Jon Snow’s death at the end of last season, the continuing relationship between Jamie and Cersei, her defiance towards the High Sparrow and his followers, and oh yeah, there’s a white walker in there as well.

Check out the new trailer below:

So in case you missed it, while the entire trailer came with a lot of updates on our characters, including Dany being thrown from her regal status into a commoner amongst the Dothraki people, the ending is where the real money shots came because after several rapid cuts we got one final shot of Bran Stark standing, next to The Night’s King, who we had last seen in “Hardhome” last season.

It’s safe to say that the scene itself is a vision of some kind, since Bran is clearly standing and walking, but nonetheless, it looks like the dreaded Whitewalker is well aware of his presence anyways.

We also got an end stinger of Davos standing in front of Jon Snow’s cold corpse and from the looks of it, fighting off some men of the Night’s Watch from interacting with his body in some way. I’ll let all of you theorists take that as you will, but yeah, they just couldn’t help but show his body more than a few times during that trailer, could they? However all of this ends up working out though, it looks like Game of Thrones fans might be in for the most unpredictable, crazy season of the show yet.

Season 6 of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 24th on HBO.
