‘Gears of War 4’ Release Date Announced

By April 6, 2016

Almost a year after its E3 2015 announcement, and following the announcement of the upcoming beta release, the official retail release date for Gears of War 4 has been announced by Microsoft today, which will feature the return of one of the most successful and popular video game franchises of the modern console era.

Per the announcement, fans can expect to see Gears 4 hit the shelves exclusively on Xbox One on October 11th, later this year, several months after the multiplayer beta which will open on April 18th later this month.

In addition, EW has also revealed our first look at the game’s new cover art, which not only gives a better look at the game’s three main characters (JD Fenix, Kait Diaz, and Del Walker), but also some of the installment’s newest weapons. Check out the artwork below:

The newest installment in the beloved franchise kicks off a new era in the Gears world, following a new group of lead heroes forced to take on a fearsome new threat. Harkening back to the dark and brutal aspects of the first game, Gears of War 4 will feature familiar gameplay with evolved and improved mechanics and graphics, that should provide a welcome and exciting new evolution in the franchise.

With the multiplayer beta launching in just about a week and a half as well, fans will be getting their first real taste of the game, and it will be interesting to see how that might affect word of mouth going into the October release date. Until then, the Gears of War franchise is coming back, and it looks like, in grand, brutal fashion.

Gears of War 4 will be released on Xbox One on October 11th.
