Halle Berry In Talks to Join ‘Kingsman 2’

By March 10, 2016

Kingsman 2 is going to be an interesting sequel for a couple of reasons. Aside from the fact that it’s going to be the follow-up to one of 2015’s best blockbuster films, it also marks the first time that director Matthew Vaughn has directed the sequel to one of his previous films, after only producing and overseeing Kick-Ass 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Did I also mention that Julianne Moore will reportedly be playing the film’s “brilliantly written” villain? And it looks like the film has added yet another recognizable, talented actress to its cast.

Variety is reporting that Halle Berry is in talks to join the film as well, to play the director of the CIA, which keeps in line with the much larger, international scale that the film has been said to be adopting. There’s no word on what her role might be in the film’s story, but seeing how she interacts with the top-secret British intelligence agency could make for some good onscreen fun.

Vaughn will be directing the film based on a script he co-wrote with Jane Goldman, with original star Taron Egerton reprising his role as Eggsy. There’s no word on if other notable supporting players could be returning like Mark Strong, although it has been confirmed that Colin Firth will not be returning for the sequel.

At this point, Matthew Vaughn can do no wrong in my eyes, and if he likes this sequel enough to return at the director’s seat, then that can (hopefully) only mean good things for the Kingsman sequel. Bringing veteran, talented actresses like Julianne Moore and Halle Berry into the cast just makes this sound that much better.

Kingsman 2 will hit theatres on June 16th, 2017.
