Iron Man 3: 6 Minutes Of Tasty BTS Footage

By April 18, 2013

Some men were destined to be heroes and this newly released BTS footage (courtesy of Marvel) from the upcoming Iron Man 3 shows why Robert Downey Jr is one such man.

But first, a recap of the plot:

Set after the events of The Avengers (film), Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) finds himself in the crosshairs of a powerful enemy known as the Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley), who holds in his possession 10 rings that give him immense power and he uses said rings to go on a revenge-fueled rampage against all those who played a hand in destroying his personal life.

And I can’t really tell you anymore than that because then we’ll be venturing into Spoilertown. But I assure you that the next (near) six minutes of your life won’t be residing in Spoilertown, either…other than we see that Stark spending some quality time with a new kid.

So buckle up, Buttercup! Let’s roll that beautiful bean footage!

Er, you’ve got drool on you.

Returning to Iron Man 3 are Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle as Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine/Iron Patriot (above). And yes, Jon Favreau is involved – but this time around, Favreau’s in front of the camera as Stark’s bodyguard, Happy Hogan, while Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) sits in the director’s chair. Some new faces joining the fray are Rebecca Hall (The Town), Guy Pearce (Memento), Ty Simpkins (Insidious) and of course, the aforementioned Sir Ben Kingsley.

If you think about everything Robert Downey Jr’s been through and the resilience to get back up every time he fell from grace to become known around the world as a beloved superhero (on film) would be a comic book that I would read and read voraciously.

Because picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and getting back into the fight is what being a superhero is all about.

I honestly couldn’t think of another actor who could play Tony Stark/Iron Man the way RDJ has and I don’t want to; he was, is, and always WILL be Iron Man to me.

I’ll see YOU in the local movie house when Iron Man 3 opens on May 3rd – hell, I may even see you MORE than once!
