Jeremy Irons’ Alfred Confirmed to Return in ‘Justice League Part 1’

By May 1, 2016

For my money, one of the best parts about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was the relationship between Jeremy Irons’ Alfred Pennyworth and Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, and the surprisingly sarcastic version of Alfred that the movie gave us. A refreshing change of pace from some of the previous onscreen iterations of the character.

I’ve already gotten excited about the thought of Alfred and Bruce’s banter in the solo Batman movie alone as well, but it looks like we won’t have to wait that long before we see Irons reprise his role as Alfred onscreen again.

The actor revealed to Showbiz411 that Alfred will be featured in Justice League Part 1 as well, which is set to be directed by Zack Snyder once again (yay?), and is probably the most scrutinized DC film by fans moving forward again, after Batman v Superman crumbled under the pressure of all of the featured character introductions and DCCU set-up.

If I’m being honest though, I could probably watch an entire Batman movie where it’s just Irons’ Alfred talking to Affleck’s Batman while he’s out fighting crime, and making sarcastic, legitimately accurate comments about his dating life.

So with that being said, having Irons return in Justice League is on the surface very good news, I just am worried that his performance as the character might be squandered or overshadowed by all of the Justice League members and their introductions. Though at this point, I’m just hoping that the editing and writing for the film is better all the way around. That’s really the only thing I’m hoping for with these new movies.

Justice League Part 1 is set to hit theatres on November 10th, 2017.
