Jonah Hill & Bill Hader Join Seth Rogen for ‘Roast of James Franco’

In case you hadn’t heard, Comedy Central is putting together a “Roast of James Franco.” While these kind of events are usually reserved for comedians, Comedy Central has taken to sticking it to pop culture figures like Donald Trump, Charlie Sheen, Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff, and more. But this is the first time a more prominent, popular, and respected actor who wasn’t a straight-up comedian has been targeted while they’re still enjoying success.

Seth Rogen has already been announced as the Roast Master for the event which is taping on Sunday, August 25th and airing on Comedy Central next month on Labor Day, September 2nd, at 10pm ET/PT. Now more comedians have been announced as fellow roasters including This is the End co-star Jonah Hill, “Saturday Night Live” alum Bill Hader, and stand-up comedians Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Sarah Silverman and, of course, Jeff Ross.

These are just some of the roasters who will throw insults at Franco, and there’s more coming down the pipeline. Considering names like Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer have frequented these roasts and both have shows on Comedy Central, they’ll likely join up if they’re not too busy with their respective programs. And there’s always the threat of Gilbert Gottfried showing up to lend his melodious voice to the roster of comedians.

As for non-regular roasters, I would hope some other of Franco’s famous co-stars like Danny McBride or Craig Robinson might get in on the fun. And it would be spectacular if writer/director/producer Judd Apatow took the stage to take some digs as well. Since Franco has opened himself up to a wide variety of criticism in his ventures as a student, artist, filmmaker, actor, and more, there’s plenty of material for his friends and these seasoned comedians to rag on.

Supposedly the taping of this roast had to be moved because the number of celebrity roasters and attendees has been growing, so this will likely be the most star-studded roast Comedy Central has put together so far. We’ll definitely be tuning in to see Franco get torn apart. Stay tuned for more updates.
