Josh Duhamel Returns for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’

By May 17, 2016

After appearing as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox in the first three Transformers films, Josh Duhamel was conspicuously absent from Transformers: Age of Extinction. But if you had the impression that Duhamel was smart enough to finally distance himself from this garbage franchise, you’re sadly mistaken – he’ll be back for the upcoming fifth installment, Transformers: The Last Knight, which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer in Detroit.

The news was first revealed on the official Transformers Twitter feed:

I’m not sure how a single human can bring safety to a universe where giant robots continue to smash, destroy and blow shit up all the time. When The Avengers left a trail of devastation in their wake, the government tried to crack down on them – maybe we’ll see Lennox leading a crusade to round up the Transformers and melt them down before the level any other major cities? Probably not. Duhamel, for reasons unknown, seems to be excited about his return to Michael Bay’s playground:

Duhamel has been doing some pretty decent work on television lately, most notably in Hulu’s excellent Stephen King mini-series 11.22.63, but I suppose the lack of explosions, green screens and bikini-clad co-stars is a little less exciting that globetrotting with Michael Bay. Mark Wahlberg will also reprise his role from Age of Extinction, and new additions to the cast include Jerrod Carmichael and Isabel Moner.

Transformers: The Last Knight is expected to be Bay’s last turn behind the camera before handing the franchise off to someone else for the next fifteen entries – hopefully Duhamel (and everyone else) will exit around that same time and we can finally lay this boring, repetitive series to rest.

Oh, they’re doing a Bumblee spinoff? Jesus Christ, nevermind. We’re doomed. Transformers: The Last Knight is slated to open on June 23, 2017.
