‘Kindergarten Cop 2’ Filming with Dolph Lundgren Right Now

By August 13, 2015

Looks like we can add another title to this growing list of unnecessary sequels. Coming 25 years after Ivan Reitman’s comedy Kindergarten Cop, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, it looks like rumors of a possible sequel to the film being in the works have ended up being true after all, this time – with Dolph Lundgren in the lead role.

The sequel was scripted by David H. Steinberg and is directed by Don Michael Paul. According to Manly Movie, the film will follow Lundgren’s character and his Indian sidekick, Sanjit, as they search for a flash drive that has gone missing from the Federal Witness Protection Program, and has coincidentally, ended up in a kindergarten class. The Kindergarten Cop then takes on the identity of a kindergarten teacher, charm a female teacher down the hall from his class, and of course, beat up a lot of bad guys.

A lot of new set images from the film have been circling the web recently, showing Lundgren currently filming the movie in Vancouver. Check out one of the images below:

The movie is said to be released sometime next year, although it is unknown if it will be receiving a theatrical, VOD, or straight-to-DVD release for right now. Lundgren’s career hasn’t been as successful the past few years, and if he wants to try and reclaim his old fame like some of the other 80s action stars we’ve seen onscreen lately, this might not be the best project for him to choose.

Personally, I don’t really see the need for this sequel, but there’s probably at least a few Kindergarten Cop fans out there who would be interested in seeing this follow-up film. Whether or not it even deserves to exist at this point though, is unknown.

Kindergarten Cop 2 is set to be released sometime in 2016.
