Mark Ruffalo On Where The Hulk Solo Movie Stands

By December 23, 2015

Hey Guys. If the movie studios truly cared about what we all wanted they’d stop making Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. That’s just never going to happen. Two movie studios are currently feuding and because of it we may never see a Mark Ruffalo fronted stand alone Hulk film.

Marvel wants to make a Hulk movie but only has the rights to use the big green guy in ensemble films currrently. Universal Studios still owns the stand alone rights and the two studio’s can’t get along. It’s the grown up version of taking your ball and going home. (only bitchier and with more money)

Talking to YahooMark Ruffalo was asked about the fact that Marvel was able to acquire the rights to Spider-man from Sony and if that boded well for the Hulkster’s chances with Universal:

I think they’ve been working on it. Marvel and Universal famously don’t get along very well, and so that’s working against us, definitely. But I know for a fact that everyone is holding out hope that one day we can do it. But the nature of the relationship right now, it’s a little prohibitive. And I hope that that changes, that changes with regimes, it changes over the course of time. But right now it doesn’t look particularly promising.

Don’t get me started. I still want to see Wolverine and the Hulk throw down on screen someday. But that won’t happen because Marvel and FOX don’t get along either. Not to mention the lack of X-Men toys and merchandise we see over the same reasons. Luckily we still get to see Ruffalo team up with Thor in Ragnarock which he says there is still a lot of work to do on. He didn’t seem to psyched about not being in Captain America: Civil War though. When told by Yahoo that he’d be missed in the film Ruffalo replied:

I know, it’s sucky. They’re saving me, so I’m told.

Could you imagine the Hulk in Civil War? Mind blown. Maybe they didn’t want overkill with too much in one movie? It makes me crazy though to see a great actor with a great role unable to use it. Or a great story un-able to be told because of licensing and rights. Could you imagine a Secret Wars film pitting the X-Men against the Avengers? It just makes sense! Here’s hoping it happens one day! Until next time, stay tuned to GeekNation for more updates!
