Netflix Hack: How To Find Thousands of Subgenres You Never Knew Existed

By January 10, 2016

When Making A Murderer ends and you’re faced with life off the couch, do not fret.

Thanks to there’s a dang good reason to stay right in those Doritos stained sweat pants and continue ignoring life’s responsibilities.

When using a web browser version of Netflix and looking at a particular genre, the URL comes with a code at the end. That code can be fooled with into unlocking loads of glorious and strange subgenres. Because sometimes you didn’t even know you were in the mood for Critically-acclaimed Animal Tales or Gritty Tearjerkers. Here’s how it works:

When you pull up a genre on Netflix the URL shows like this:

All you have to do is switch the numbers around and uncover glorious mounds of strange movies you otherwise may have never even known existed. Granted, this is for the deepest of show hole blues but it happens to us all from time to time. I once watched four straight Al Pacino films just because I had never seen them before and that bothered me. I call it “research”. Also, it was shortly after Halloween and that candy wasn’t going to finish itself.

Unfortunately, you can only utilize this using the web version of Netflix but here’s how to go next level:

Just make a list while pretending to work on your computer at work and then specifically search the movies you otherwise wouldn’t have known existed once safely seated on your couch. If you want a head start here’s a link with already figured out subgenre codes: Magical list

Mainly this is for those days spent screaming at your cat that Netflix never has anything new. Personally I get a fit of black rage whenever Netflix keeps offering me the same 10,000 choices based on that one day I felt like watching four hours of The Aquabats. Hey, I have kids. ( I was alone)
