Marvel is proving once again why they are the best at what they do. No, not because of these ‘spy’ images taken on the Dr. Strange set; though it doesn’t hurt Marvel’s image when you see how the new film is on location, in Nepal of all places, showing us just how far Disney and Marvel will go to expand their cosmic and superhero universe in the most exciting of ways.
What these images show us is that filming is officially underway and that should get everyone excited. And when I say they are the best at what they do, I am referencing the stellar cast they have lined up. Not only are we getting a seasoned horror director in Scott Derrickson (Sinister) to guide the Sorcerer Supreme to the big screen in a special way, but we are also getting one of the most amazing casts, in my opinion, ever assembled! I think this might be one of my most anticipated Marvel movies to date.
Here are few new shots of star Benedict Cumberbatch on set in Nepal as mentioned, sporting a beard. Story wise, your guess as to why he’s there in Nepal is as good as mine. To me, I’m guessing Dr. Stephen Strange is searching for some answers about, maybe, ‘The Ancient One’ who is played in the movie by Tilda Swinton.
Check out these images taken on set.
One of the story-lines of Dr. Strange sees the good doctor looking for The Ancient One hoping he (she in this version) will help him regain the use of his hands which he lost in a horrible car accident. Judging by his haggard looks, and the mystical setting of Nepal, I’m guessing this might be the plot point we are witnessing.
Now that we are well under way in filming the first Marvel entry to go head first into the mystical world of magic and sorcery, I can’t help but be overly excited to see the results. Marvel has, really, never let me down when it comes to fleshing out their line up of lesser known ‘super heroes’ (See Ant-Man). The talent and director involved prove to me, once again, that Marvel is going full out.
Dr Strange will also star Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkselsen, and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is due in theatres November 4, 2016.
