New Star Trek Blooper Reel Features Cast From The Next Generation

By January 2, 2013

“Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.”

This includes the world of bloopers.

Ever since its premiere in 1987, Star Trek: The Next Generation (aka TNG) had not only delighted Star Trek fans old and new for seven seasons, the show is also famous for sparking the famous (and neverending) “Who’s the better captain: Kirk or Picard?” and the “I love (or hate) Wesley Crusher” debates.

A Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Chrismukkah gift of sorts was given to fans in the form of a ten-minute gag reel in the extras of the season 2 blu-ray released in December that shows that it’s not all seriously serious in the Roddenberry universe.

Brent Spiner (Data) doing his quick impression of “Data on acid” between takes.

This ten minute clip features TNG’s usual suspects like Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Riker), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Worf), Diana Muldaur (Doctor Katherine Pulaski), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Wil Wheaton (Wesley) and guest stars like Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan) getting stuck in doors, dropping lines, cursing, and in the case of Stewart – cuddling up to a blanket like a giddy little schoolgirl. SO CUTE.

What’s that? You don’t have season 2 on blu-ray or can’t afford the hefty(ish) price tag? NO PROBLEM! Thanks to the wonder that is the internet, we’ve got the reel here for your eyeball’s pleasure!

So if you’ve ever wanted to know who swears the most, who likes to pretend they’re on Broadway or who the klutziest klutzo was amongst the crew of Enterprise-D, sit back and enjoy!

NOTE: The swears are bleeped out but if you’re at work and your boss isn’t a cool geek, I’d recommend headphones!

Blooper reel, ENGAGE!

If this hadn’t already cemented my obsess- I mean, LOVE for Patrick Stewart and EVERY single thing he does, this would definitely help harden it just a little more; he’s so adorable!!

God, I love this man.

I may be a Star Wars girl but when it comes to Star Trek, I’m all Picard (sorry, Kirk)!

I’m happy, hope you’re happy too!! Let me know your thoughts and hopefully more of these reels will pop up more often in the future! Maybe if we all yell “MAKE IT SO!” loud enough, it’ll happen.

A girl can dream, right?
