RUMOR: ‘Batman v Superman’ Teaser May Attach to ‘Jupiter Ascending’

By January 8, 2015

Fans have heard a lot about the supposed release of the first teaser for 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice over the last few months. Most recently, it was supposed to be attached to IMAX screenings of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. That obviously didn’t pan out, but we now have one more future date to keep an eye out for.

According to Latino Review reporter Umberto Gonzalez, the first trailer for the highly anticipated DC Comics superhero team-up film will be attached to the forthcoming release of the Wachowskis’ latest film, Jupiter Ascending, which hits theaters on February 6th. This would seem to be a good film to attach the trailer to presuming that Warner Bros. wants to kick the hype machine into high gear roughly a year out from the film’s release. This appears to be when the studio likes to release the first teasers for their tentpole superhero films, as they have done with their two most recent examples. When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released in July of 2011, WB attached the teaser for The Dark Knight Rises to it, which was then released in July of 2012. When Dark Knight Rises hit theaters, they attached the first teaser for Man of Steel to it, which released in June of 2013.

If they continue to follow this pattern, then the next film they can attach it to that would likely be the studio’s biggest within the January-April 2015 release window would be director Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea, which stars Chris Hemsworth. Jupiter Ascending would likely be the more obvious choice, though, so we’ll have to see if this rumor ends up panning out early next month.
