Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Lends His Roar to ‘Doctor Who’

By September 28, 2015

Doctor Who‘s ninth season got off to a strong start two weeks ago, and it appears as though things are only going to get bigger and better from here. Well, at the very least things will be getting much, much LOUDER.

According to the BBC, producers were looking for someone to give their menacing new monster, The Fisher King, an appropriately frightening roar. Enter Corey Taylor, frontman for one of the biggest metal bands on the planet, Slipknot. While on tour in Cardiff (where Doctor Who films), the band was invited to take a VIP tour of the Who set and Taylor was asked to lend his iconic scream to the monster. According to producer Derek Ritchie, the well-known Whovian did a fantastic job:

“He has one of the most well-known screams in the history of music…We now have the most incredible roar for our incredible monster! He now sounds as terrifying as he looks!”

The Fisher King is portrayed on-screen by Neil Fingleton (dude’s 7’7″!), voiced by Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, ArcherShaun of the Dead), and will appear in Episode 4 of the current season, airing on October 10th. With Corey Taylor’s scream added to the mix, he’s certainly shaping up to be one of the Doctor’s most fearsome foes.

Doctor Who airs on BBC America Saturdays at 9pm.
