Stan Lee is Just as In Love With Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as We Are

By June 20, 2016

From even before the movie’s official theatrical release, Tom Holland was receiving massive critical acclaim for his work as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, which was the actor’s first onscreen introduction as the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hailed as being the best version of Spider-Man that we’ve seen on the big screen yet, he’s quickly become a fan-favorite amongst comic book fans.

While recently appearing at Denver Comic-Con this past weekend as well, on a panel moderated by GN’s very own Clare Kramer, Spider-Man creator, Stan Lee, shared his thoughts on Holland’s take on the character.

Here’s what Lee had to say about Holland’s Spider-Man:

“Oh, he’s wonderful, I was with him the other day. He’s great. I can’t believe it. It’s as if we created a living being to be Spider-Man and it turned out to be Tom. Really!”

The youngest actor to portray the character onscreen yet, Holland’s Peter Parker felt at times like he had been ripped right from the comic book pages, with his nonstop talking during the film’s airport battle, and his solid moral compass demonstrated in his earlier talk with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. It looks like he’s received the seal of approval from more than just the fans and critics too with Lee’s comments here, and we couldn’t agree with him any more.

Now, as production nears on Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will give Holland his first standalone, feature film try at the character, we’ll get to see just what this version of Peter’s whole world is like in the MCU, something that was only hinted at in Civil War. If the rumors are true, then it’ll not only feature Iron Man and a ridiculously-atrractive aunt, but also, possibly a birdman as well. Yup. It’s seeming more and more like Holland’s Spider-Man may be the iteration of the character that fans have truly been waiting their entire lives for.
