‘Star Wars: Art Awakens’ Invites Fans to Send in Original Artwork For Charity Event

By August 11, 2015

There’s nothing better than some good old-fashioned, kick ass fan artwork, and with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens set to hit theaters in just a few short months, it’s not surprising that more and more fan art is being released online in anticipation for the film. For those of you out there itching to show everyone your portrait of Darth Vader facing off against Luke, then this might just be for you.

A new charity event for the film has begun today called “Star Wars: Art Awakens” and invites fans from all over the nation to participate by sending in their custom Star Wars artwork to ArtAwakens.com. Here’s what you can win for submitting your artwork:

  • Artwork featured in a Star Wars professional gallery exhibit at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles from 11/13 to 11/15.
  • Three-day, all-expenses-paid trip with one guest to Los Angeles to attend the VIP opening night reception of the Star Wars professional gallery exhibit.
  • Additionally, an HP “Bend the Rules Award” will be granted to one of the give Grand Prize Winners, upon completion of a questionnaire, with the highest score in the Innovative Use of Technology category. The HP “Bend the Rules” award-winner will receive an HP Notebook computer to help them push the boundaries of art and creativity.

Gallery 1988 will then auction off original artwork from new and professional talents as well, with the proceeds working with “Star Wars: Force For Change”, to help UNICEF Kid Power. So this will act as  way for new artists to have their work be shown, while also helping to benefit a worthy charity. Sounds pretty good right?

“Force For Change” managed to bring in more money for charity than most are able to do all year long, and the fact that the size and anticipation for the movie is being used for a good cause as well, will make seeing The Force Awakens even better.

Star Wars: Art Awakens kicks off today, and ends on October 11th.
