‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Photos Reveal Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill Filming New Scenes With (SPOILER)

By May 13, 2016

Warning: This article may contain mild spoilers for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

There’s been quite a lot of set photos surfacing online from director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII over the past few weeks, most of which seemingly revealing the construction of the Millennium Falcon on an island terrain that looks incredibly like the island at the end of The Force Awakens, which has housed Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker for several years and may be the location of the first Jedi temple.

While Daisy Ridley and Hamill haven’t necessarily been shy about what they’ve been filming, with a large majority of it rumored to be between just the two of them on the island, the BBC News has some new photos that seem to bring in an interesting new addition to their scenes… Adam Driver.

On location in Malin Head, in Donegal County Ireland, the three actors were spotted filming near the set, which could mean that production has reached the final confrontation between the three characters, since it’s almost assumed at this point that not only will Rey be forced to face off with Kylo Ren again, but that Luke will have to face his former padawan, Ben Solo, as well. Is it possible the actors are filming these very scenes right now, and could it involve Rey and Luke taking the Falcon to his location?

It’s also possible that some of this could be conjured up by a force vision of some kind, with Luke being continually haunted by his former student, or maybe it’s not at the end of the film, maybe the three cross paths earlier. At this point, it’s hard to know.

Or we could be jumping to conclusions and the three might not have any scenes together at all. It wouldn’t be the first time that an actor has been on location without ever having scenes there (let’s not forget that Hamill was also in England for a majority of the Episode VII shoot as well, and look at how that turned out). Seeing Rey and Kylo Ren in the same place together again though, following their now iconic battle on Starkiller Base, should be enough to excite all of you Star Wars fans out there nonetheless, whether they’re filming what we think they might be or not.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to hit theatres on December 15th, 2017.
