Growing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were my thing. I lived and breathed Ninja Turtles. I had the action figures, the Turtle copter, the pizza thrower pretty much anything Ninja Turtles that could think of I consumed. I loved the films. The original 1990 films is still one of my favorite films of all time. Who knows how many times I watched it growing up, and I still love watching it to this day. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is very near and dear to my heart, so obviously when the new film came out in 2014 I was interested in hesitant all at the same time.
My vision of the Turtles (at least in the live action) is very much in line with what Jim Henson’s Creature Shop created all those years ago, and these new Turtles were very, very different. I enjoyed the first film for what it was. My reaction was kind of in the middle for me, so when I heard they were doing a sequel I wasn’t sure on what to expect. Now I do. Paramount Pictures has just released the first trailer for their Ninja Turtles sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Check it out below!
I would be lying if my inner 6 year old didn’t have a big smile on his face while watching this trailer. This sequel looks like a blast! Now, that I’m used to what these Turtles look like and how they act I am ready to move past that and just enjoy the story. I am also thrilled that they brought in Stephen Amell to play Casey Jones. I loved that character from the original films and as a huge fan of Arrow and of Amell I can’t wait to see him in this film. We also get to see what Bebop and Rocksteady look like in their fully mutated form and I must say they look pretty good. I wasn’t too impressed with the looks of their original human selves but their mutant forms look cool. While their design looks cool, the CGI still doesn’t look quite as good as it could but we’re still 6 months away there’s still some work to be done.
When I first heard about this sequel I was pretty indifferent but I absolutely loved this trailer. I thought the humor worked, the action looked pretty sweet and the music choice was great. Oh, and I totally forgot Tyler Perry was in this film as Baxter Stockman. This should be fun!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is set for release on June 3, 2016!
