‘The Simpsons’ + Internet Piracy + A-List Guest Stars = “Steal This Episode”

By December 21, 2013

Just like most shows around the holiday season, “The Simpsons” won’t return until after the new year and when they do – boy, oh boy!!

In its 25 year run, “The Simpsons” had never really fully broached the subject of internet piracy – and before you say they did in the homage to BBC’s “The Prisoner” in The Computer Wore Menace Shoes (above), where Homer created a website and made up stuff that turned out to be true and he was sent to a mysterious island and newly dubbed “Number 5” with “Number 6” himself from the BBC series, Patrick McGoohan lending his voice – this one’s completely different. But hopefully it’ll be just as awesome.

According to Entertainment Weekly ,”Steal This Episode” (based on a spec script writer/director/producer Judd Apatow wrote 20 years ago) sees Homer getting himself banned from the local movie house, leading Bart to teach him how to download movies – so (of course) Homer creates a “backyard movie theater,” and Marge (of course) disapproves. In her forever quest to do the right thing, Marge tries to pay Hollywood for the stolen downloads  and in true “Simpsons” fashion, triggers the attention of an FBI agent in charge of anti-piracy voiced by Will Arnett (“Arrested Development”), and The Simpson clan ends up doing what they do best: go on the run!

But wait! That’s not all!

Also returning to lend their A-list voices to the episode are Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum, Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, and Leslie Mann…

..but it’s hearing the voice of leather daddy and Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford that I’m most excited for!

I COULD tell you how they fit in, but wouldn’t you rather wait and be excited, B-E excited?

Until then, why not test your “Simpsons” knowledge and see how many of these characters you can name!

No need to break the law: “The Simpsons” returns with “Steal This Episode” on Sunday, January 5th.
