True Blood Season 6 Casting News!

By March 28, 2013

While True Blood‘s been relatively quiet the last few months as far as casting news, yesterday a flood of new blood (pardon the pun) was released yesterday when it was revealed who’ll be making their way to Bon Temps this June.

Wanna taste? Then by all means, let’s take a bite!

Last November, it was revealed that Rob Kazinsky (EastEnders, Brothers And Sisters) would join the cast as Sookie’s new man, Ben; a ridiculously good looking and charming faerie who comes along to help Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) find out more about who killed their parents and why.

Fun Fact: Kazinsky was originally cast as Fili in The Hobbit but had to drop out due to health reasons.

Also revealed last year was the casting of eternally good looking and ridiculously talented Rutger Hauer as another with ties with Sookie and Jason; the mysterious and sinister Macklyn. Given this man made me both fear him then shed quite a few tears for him in Blade Runner, fell in love with him in Ladyhawke and wanted to kill him with fire in The Hitcher; I can’t WAIT to see the trouble he may bring to fair Bon Temps!

And now, meet the new blood!

Luke Grimes (Brothers And Sisters) will make his mark midway through season 6 as James, a vampire from the ’70s who’s been described as a “Jim Morrison-type who has no idea how much women like him” and according to TVLine, “is smart, spiritual and emotionally deeper than any other bloodsucker seen before.” YUM.

Arliss Howard (Rubicon, Full Metal Jacket) is Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell, a member of the “good ol’ boys” club with a grudge for vampires as his wife left him and their only child, Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire), for one. While politically savvy, Burrell is fairly blinded by his political and personal aspirations.

Amelia Rose Blaire (90210, Grimm) is Willa Burrell, the rebellious and only daughter of Governor Burrell. Not much else is known at this point but I’m guessing if the word “rebellious” is used to describe her, I expect many visits to Fangtasia or, at the very least, a secret vampire boyfriend or girlfriend because as we ALL know, anything goes on this show.

Karolina Wydra (House) is Violet, a strong, sexy and badass vampire described as “a female mix of Eric Northman and Bill Compton,” so here’s hoping she either becomes Pam’s (Kristen Bauer-Van Straten) new bff (bitch fight friend) or latest nemesis…which if you think about it, is pretty much the same thing in Pam’s mind.

Rounding out the cast is Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights, Tyler Perry’s Temptation) as Nicole, a “do-gooder” and activist who comes to Bon Temps to “help with the cause,” which I’m guessing is vampiric as she herself said her arrival will involve animals and “some biting.”

p.s. if the name sounds familiar but you can’t place the face…maybe this’ll help

That’s right, darlings. She’s Denise from Full House.

Welly well well, can’t wait to see how this’ll play out when True Blood returns in June, only on HBO.
