The news regarding Jared Leto’s antics and pranks on his fellow Suicide Squad co-stars during production have been one of the movie’s strangest talking points over the past few months. That includes the moment when Cara Delevingne said she walked into the forest naked at night to get into character as Enchantress, at the direction of David Ayer… Yeah, these cats got into some strange situations making this movie.
One of the cast members that wasn’t particularly fond of
Leto’s The Joker’s stunts on set though, was Viola Davis, who previously said she wouldn’t have had much of his zaniness if he had targeted any of it towards her. Apparently, he freaked her out so much though, that she almost brought out her pepper spray, just in case.
While speaking with E! News, Davis said that Leto sent her a box full of bullets, as The Joker, which unsettled her slightly… to say the least:
“It was a little worrisome. It made you a little bit nervous and I’m pretty tough. You know I got into a few fights when I was growing up…but it scared me a little bit.”
What? Why would that ever scare her? A strange box full of bullets showing up at her mailbox, addressed from a fictional character? Nothing worrying about that whatsoever.
Davis even revealed that she had never even met Leto before meeting The Joker, a character that Leto went full method in portraying, and when she finally met the actor himself at the film’s wrap party, was a little precautious:
“Before that I was only introduced to The Joker…and I almost had my pepper spray out. You know, ‘You remember that bullet you sent me?’”
Unfortunately, Davis did not pepper spray Leto, despite how hilarious of a story that might have been for all of us to hear. After sending his co-stars things like live rats in a box, a dead pig, sticky Playboy magazines, anal beads, used condoms, and more as well, he may have very well deserved it also. If anything, Davis could have said that was her being method, though let’s face it, Amanda Waller might not have stopped at just pepper spray.
Suicide Squad is set to hit theatres on August 5th.
