Wait, Why Exactly Does Daisy Ridley Have to Keep Rey’s ‘Episode VIII’ Hairstyle a Secret?

By July 6, 2016

Oh man, Daisy Ridley is having a lot of fun teasing fans about Star Wars: Episode VIII.

If you’ve been following the actress at all on her Instagram account (which you should because she’s got possibly the most exuberant and happy account in existence right now), then you know by now that she’s been keeping everything very tight-lipped from production on Episode VIII. With that being said, that also hasn’t necessarily stopped her from having fun with the overall secrecy at the same time.

After posting an image yesterday of a mystery location (and revelling in the mysteriousness of it all) from the film as well, the actress has posted a new workout video from set today, in which she’s wearing some kind of hair cap to keep “Rey’s hairstyle from Instagram’s gaze.

Check out the video below:

Okay, cool. So in case we didn’t already have enough to wonder about with this movie, now we also have to think about what exactly could be so massively important, that Daisy Ridley has to hide Rey’s hairstyle from us.

… Since we’re both here though, we might as well speculate anyways right? Judging by the size of the cap itself and the shape of it, it doesn’t look like she’s necessarily lost a lot or any of the hair itself, and could just be keeping the same three hair buns running down the back of her head like in The Force Awakens. It’s also possible though, that she could be wearing her hair down in the film, like some previous reports have speculated.

If so, then that seems like kind of a weird thing to have to keep secret if I’m being honest. But then again, knowing how everything surrounding this movie and its headlines work, if she posted a video from set with her hair down, it probably would cause a lot of discussion amongst fans too, maybe even more than this video is…. Then again, maybe it is a legitimately crazy hairstyle we’re not allowed to see. Who knows? I’m sure we’ll all have a lot of fan endlessly wondering about it for the next year and a half.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to hit theatres on December 15th, 2017, when we’ll finally learn what’s actually underneath that pillowcase.
