You’ll Never Guess Who’s Playing ‘Obama’ in Spielberg’s Fake Movie About the President

Spielberg Obama video

This video is a few months old, but it’s new to me, and I thought it was funny enough to share in case you missed it as well. Steven Spielberg made news yesterday when word came out he was considering Montezuma as his newest movie to direct, and I’d been wondering what the filmmaker would do as his follow-up to his historical drama Lincoln back in 2012. In this video, created for the 2013 White House Correspondent’s Dinner, Spielberg “reveals” that his plan is to make another Presidential biopic – this one about our current POTUS, Barack Obama. But which actor has the ability to disappear into the role?

Pretty funny stuff. And in a weird Lincoln-related story, my boss just sent me this piece of trivia from that claims actor George Clooney is related to the former President:

After researching more than three centuries of Abraham Lincoln’s family tree, family historians have revealed a Lincoln family secret: famous actor George Clooney is related to the former president. The family bloodline for both notable figures links to Lincoln’s maternal grandmother Lucy Hanks. Due to this common ancestor, Clooney is Lincoln’s half-first cousin five times removed.

My gut reaction was that this was fake because it’s 2014 and we’re on the internet so there’s like a 70% chance everything you read is a hoax, but I feel like hoaxing took on a life of its own (or “became a thing,” as the kids are saying) in 2013, long after this article was published back in November of 2012. (Not that there weren’t any hoaxes online before then, only that they became so much more prevalent last year.) I guess you really do learn something new every day. Anyway, thus ends today’s look back at things we missed that happened a year ago. We hope your 2014 is getting off to a great start.
